Dr. Amy S. Paller was new to the field of pediatric dermatology when she met Dr. Sidney Hurwitz in 1980. As a leader in pediatric dermatology, he became one of her mentors. He inspired her research into the knowledge and treatment of difficult and challenging pediatric skin disease, and encouraged her to present her findings at pediatric and dermatology conferences. Dr. Paller, now an esteemed authority in the field of pediatric dermatology, maintains a close connection to the late Dr. Hurwitz through her love and respect for him and his work.

Dr. Anthony Mancini
, a leader in pediatric dermatology who has worked closely with Dr. Paller for the last decade, also embraces Dr. Hurwitz's love of the specialty and his philosophy on the care of children with skin diseases. It is fitting that Drs. Paller and Mancini have been chosen to update the text for the third edition of Clinical Pediatric Dermatology to continue the legacy of Dr. Hurwitz. (From the Foreword of the 3rd edition.)
